A British human rights group has stated in its report that Indian government has failed to protect the rights of minorities in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Nagaland.
The Minority Rights Group International (MRG) works for empowerment of minorities across the world. However, the MRG admired Indian government for its work in Tamil Nadu. As it is a good model for protection of minority rights.
Th report said:
Tamil Nadu is not a perfect example of minority protection but it underlines how minority autonomy and empowerment can turn a separatist movement into a force for democracy.
The strategies applied by India in Tamil Nadu had not worked in J&K and none of the feature had emerged in these states. The lack of appropriate allocation of development and economic funds, minority’s representation, and protection of rights, government mashinary has failed on all fronts, the report said. To an extent, group endorses for the self-rule in J&K, within the parameters of existing sovereignties of India and Pakistan.
However, I have the same opinion that successive state governments have failed to distribute the funds to those who actually needed, as J&K is the second most corrupt state after Bihar in India but the suggestions to resume peace in the state by applying self rule is unacceptable.
This essential part of India has tarnished by some handful separatists who mainly puppets in the hands of Pakistan. The so-called crusaders from Pakistan and Afghanistan are making the situation in Kashmir worse and I think we’ve enough time to prove these wrongdoings in front of International community. The condition will worsen further if any self-rule would be applied in J&K. The situation of POK (Pak Occupied Kashmir) is not far away from us.
